Phin Upham Bio
Phin Upham has attended Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He has worked in macro and illiquid investing and currently works at a family office / hedge fund. He has written for articles for national publications including the National Post in Toronto and United Press International in Washington, and has edited three books.
After graduating high school from Collegiate High School, Phin studied philosophy under Robert Nozick at Harvard University. His work in philosophy inspired him to write two essays: “Is Economic Scientific? Is Science Scientific?” and “Freedom for the Future: The Independent Value of Freedom in Light of Uncertainty.” After earning a degree in philosophy, Phin moved on to graduate school where he researched innovation.
After completing his dissertation he wrote three essays based on his research. Some of his essays include, “Citation Structure of an Emerging Research Area on the Verge of Application,” “Finding Cohesive Clusters for Analyzing Knowledge Communities,” and “Emerging Scientific Research Fronts.”
